32 families are now in new homes that they built!
We have recently finished working with 25 families that built new homes in the Settler's Bay area outside Wasilla. The homes range in size from three bedroom to four bedroom and all homes include a garage and in-floor hydronic heating. Most of the construction work was done by the homeowners, their friends, and other volunteers. Some construction services were provided by a number of Alaskan businesses.

Volunteers
Much of the work being done on these projects is the work of volunteers and community minded businesses. If your company or group is looking for a way to build "team spirit" through community service, this project may be just what you are looking for.
The pictures below were taken during an USDA Rural Development & Alaska CDC work day. We all enjoyed the opportunity to help others but were surprised to find that we gained so much benefit to ourselves.
