Alaska CDC Volunteer Opportunities
Alaska CDC can utilize both group and individuals that can provide volunteer assistance with our rehab and new construction programs.
Currently, we have coordinated the construction of two groups of 8 homes under the USDA Mutual Self-Help Housing Program. The Self-Help Housing Program is a group method of home construction available to limited-income housholds. Eligible households qualify for low-interest loans and work together in goups to build each other's homes.
Each family contributes over 1,200 hours of construction on these homes for over a 12-14 month period. With the help of volunteers, these houses may get built fast, which means these families will be able to move in sooner.
We would absolutly love your help in building these homes! Any amount of time that you could give would be greatly appreciated!
